Coldplay have wanted since the release of their first single Shiver. If A Rush Of Blood To The Head in 2002 published the expectations were high, but in reality far exceeded what was adopted. The album went to # 1 in Britain, Denmark, Norway, Argentina, Australia and Switzerland and has been in the top 10 in Finland, the Netherlands, France, New Zealand, Portugal, United States andSweden. The album has received numerous awards there, 3x Grammy Awards, a Brit Award, and other Q Magazine Awards. Some of the hit singles from the album in my place would, Clocks, God Put A Smile Upon Your Face and The Scientist.
X & Y "was released in 2005 and showed that Coldplay continue to improve for as long as the album went to # 1 in over 10 countries (UK, USA, Finland, Switzerland, Norway, Sweden, France, Denmark, Portugal, Netherlands, Austria, Germany, New Zealand, Canada andAustralia). Before the end of 2005, the album has already sold over 8.3 million times and was the best selling album in the world 's year. The last song of the album, which is a hidden bonus track, Til Kingdom Come, shall be recorded by Johnny Cash, but unfortunately he died before they could come to fruition.
Coldplay have been many groups over the years, including the likes of, George Harrison, Echo & The Bunnymen influenced by Johnny Cash, Kraftwerk, Travis,Radiohead and The Verve. They also have a new album, entitled Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends, which is set to be released in June 2008 and is produced by Brian Eno. The name of the album derives from a painting by Mexican artist Frida Kahlo.
