MP3 Tag Tools - The Best Tools For Automatically Tagging Your MP3 Files

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Having MP3 tag tools is imperative if you want to have an organized music collection. MP3 tag tools are very helpful when trying to edit music ID3 tags. In today's technological society more people download music than actually purchase tangible CDs. With that being said when music is downloaded usually the song details are made up by the user that uploaded them, which is why there are so many commonly misspelled names and album titles. I'm going to talk about the absolute best tools for automatically tagging your MP3 files.

I stumbled across a couple of very powerful programs that have the ability to find misspelled songs and automatically correct them. Now if the software just did this alone I would be satisfied but there are even more benefits and features bumbled with the best MP3 tag tools. The top tier programs that I ran across also had the ability to remove duplicate songs, fill in missing details such as album release dates, lyrics, missing artwork, and correct misspelled song and album names.

What makes these pieces of software different from the rest is that all of that can be done automatically. All you have to do is start the scan and it will compare your song files with the files in its music database sort of like taking a digital fingerprint of your music. The only thing you have to do is occasionally give the program permission to download artwork or delete a duplicate file. This ensures that you still have complete control over what is going on.

There are lots of sites that compare MP3 tag tools but the best one I came across I listed below. If you are serious about organizing your music collection and automatically fixing MP3 tags check out the review site and find a solution just like I did.

Michael Jackson Dance Moves

Image : http://www.flickr.com

There is no denying that Michael Jackson was an icon of the 80's and of pop music. Many people would have said just six months ago that his finest days were well behind him. In fact, many critics were speculating about how his upcoming tour would fare. With his recent death though it seems that people just can't get enough of him. There are many things to reflect upon, with one of them being his dance moves.

One of the many reasons why Michael Jackson was so popular is that he combined his music with amazing dance moves. Many of us can remember dancing in high school to his songs, and mimicking various moves. Thriller is perhaps the one that most people remember as it had its own dance routine to it. Some of the guys even showed up at these dances with their white glove.

Who can forget the Moonwalk as well? It is debated about if Michael Jackson invented that dance move or not. Whether he did or not though, he is definitely the one that made it so popular. What many people believe is that the Moonwalk existed but that Michael Jackson was able to take it, perfect it, and to make it his own. In fact, it was often said to be his trademark dance move.

There are step by step instructions online to do the Moonwalk too if you are interested in it. Perhaps you once new it and you just need a refresher to get going with it again. There are quite a few videos online right now that take all of his dance moves from the past and put them into one place. This is a great way for you to see them and to appreciate all that this man offered to the world of dancing.

There are quite a few robotic dance moves that Michael Jackson introduced us to as well. These were actually introduced in the 1970's. They weren't moves that he did alone but that he did with several of his family members when they were known as the Jackson 5. Even so, when Michael Jackson did move forward with a solo career he continued these moves as well.

In Las Vegas there are plenty of impersonator shows. Several of them include Michael Jackson and it isn't enough for these individuals to just look like him. Instead they also have to know the right dance moves to make it very realistic in nature. These dance moves weren't just special effects but a definite part of his artistic abilities. There are very few people out there that can do them with the same high level of quality.

Michael Jackson will always be a legend in the world of pop music. Many of his dance moves are complex but that is one of the reasons why people lover to learn them. There is a revived interest in them too with the passing of this man, so you may state to see those dance moves in the clubs and other events once again. The saying that everything old is new again is very true when it comes to the world of music and dancing to it.

What is very surprising for many people to learn is that Michael Jackson created almost all of his own dance moves. They weren't choreographed by someone else as is the case for many artists. With that in mind, you have to appreciate just how creative this man was. Anyone who has seen him perform live can tell you about the passion he had for dancing. He has definitely been an inspiration to dancers all over the world.

Learning to Play a Musical Instrument

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Learning how to play a musical instrument is not as overwhelming as it sounds. If you have the desire and motivation, you're already half way there. Most people who want to learn to play an instrument are overshadowed by self doubt. They think that if you were not born playing an instrument, you'll never grasp it. This is utter nonsense.

All you need is patience, time and a good instructor. You will also need to have your own instrument. It is pointless taking up the guitar, piano or drums if you have not got your own instrument to practice on.

It is also not true that you have to start taking lessons from an early age. You are never too old to learn something new. In fact, taking up a musical instrument, at any age, can be very rewarding. You don't have to be the next Kieth Richards. You just have to be as good as you want to be. As long as you are having fun and getting pleasure from what you are learning, then you are doing something correctly.

It is important to get an instructor who knows what style of music you are hoping to learn. You should also feel totally at home and comfortable with this instructor. Most of the time, instructors are willing to come to your house to teach you. Alternatively, there are smaller music academies that you can go. When you are buying your instrument of choice, why not ask the sales person who is assisting you for a list of music teachers in your area?

Once you have started taking lessons and learnt a few chords and tunes, you will need to practice if you want to be any good at what you are playing. If you are enjoying the instrument that you chose, practicing will not feel like a chore to you but something that you cannot wait to do at the end of a stressful day or as soon as you get out of bed in the morning!

Music is very therapeutic and good for your soul. So if you've always wanted to learn, do not waste one more day.

Top 5 Sure-Fire Mistakes That a Beginner Learning Piano Makes

Image : http://www.flickr.com

When you first start to learn the piano, many people slip into bad habits without even recognizing it. You may find that you are struggling for example to move to a note, and it might be because of the position your fingers are on the keyboard, so below I am going to talk about 5 main habits you do not want to acquire, and if you have try and break this habit as soon as possible.

1. So many people don't have their hands positioned correctly on the piano. Lots of people have their fingers completely flat out, and then they wonder why its so hard to move around the piano. So always ensure that your fingers are curled and relaxed on the keys.

2. When you first start learning, if you have a good teacher, they should teach you the importance of correct posture at the piano. Always make sure your back is straight, your seat is the correct height, and your shoulders are nice and relaxed.

3. Using the wrong fingering is one of my pet hates when teaching people. Always follow the fingering guide. It's there for a reason! Make the most of each finger and use it to your full advantage. Some people just use two or three main fingers, and this will make your playing sound rather untidy. If you are using correct fingers, you piece will flow a lot better.

4. Another thing that so many people do is to rush their performance, and then their timing is completely out. So make sure you hold your notes for their full length that is stated. A metronome is a good way of improving your rhythm and time keeping.

5. My last point is to try and follow the musical score as much as possible. Try and get into the habit of planning ahead when you play. So imagine you are reading a book, and scrolling your vision across. Do not look down at your fingers, as you will get very lost and then start to make mistakes as you won't know where you are.

Luna Bass - Art Meets Music

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The Luna line of musical instruments were envisioned Yvonne de Viliers. Her idea was simple. She wanted to create guitars that were comfortable, affordable, artistic and unique! She said why can't an instrument be more ergonomic. Her mother played electric bass for over forty years and she knew from her mothers experiences that basses were big and heavy. She wanted to change that.

Yvonne was an artist that worked in the stained glass industry. She wanted Luna guitars and basses to be more than instruments. She thought they should also be considered works of art. She quickly learned that designing the fretboard of the bass and the guitar was exactly the same as her stained glass art. She could incorporate everything that she knew right into the neck and bodies of the guitars and basses. These designs are beautiful but she was not done. She also uses laser etching in a henna art style on the actual body of the instrument. This creates a beautiful design that is not seen on any other brand of instrument.

Yvonne thought it would be a great idea to encourage young musicians to create their own designs. They came up with the Imagine line of guitars. These come with a set of day glow markers that allow you to draw on the body of the guitar making it truly one of a kind.

You would think that with all of this attention drawn towards the artistic aspect of these instruments that something would be lost in the sound or playability department but that is not the case. Luna guitars and basses sound and play great and there is a whole slew of professional musicians that call Luna their home.

Michael Jackson Remembering a Legend

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Michael Joseph Jackson (August 29, 1958 - June 25, 2009)

The whole world was shock when news all over media announces that the king of pop, Michael Jackson is now dead. Not only the entertainment industries were grieving, but the whole world literally. He is a legend and an icon in music industry.

As a kid I was always telling everybody that Michael Jackson was my cousin. I would even make my Mom back me up . I remember going to the Barber and saying I want my hair to look like Michael Jackson. My favorite all time songs were Ben, ABC and the Legendary Thriller. I didn't know it at the time but not only was Thriller an Awesome record and crazy video . It was also a history making event . Thriller forced the music industry to start playing Black Videos on Television changing the face of music forever. I also remember getting off the subway at Young Street & Bloor in Toronto, Canada and in every direction as far as you could see, there were mini Michael Jackson's everywhere sporting the tight pants, Red leather Jacket and solo white Glove . To say Michael Jackson is a Legend is an under statement.

Michael Jackson: The Beginning

Michael is the seventh child of the Jackson family and made his debut as professional singer at the age of 11 in 1969 as the new member of Jackson 5 then. He began a solo career in 1971 while he was still a member of the group. He was later referred to as "The king of pop".

The World Got Thrilled with his "Thriller"

"Thriller" album that was launched in 1982 is the world's best-selling record of all time. Four other solo studio albums are also among the world's best-selling records:

•    Off the wall (1979)

•    Bad (1987)

•    Dangerous (1991) and

•    History (1995)

Michael became a leading figure in popular music and the first African-American entertainer to build up the strong followers on the "White" dominant MTV in 1980s. The phenomenal popularity of his music videos aiming on MTV such as "Beat It", "Billy Jean" and "Thriller" transformed the music video from a promotional tool into an art form and bring him new level of fame. He was also known for his famous dance move "Moon walk", "Crotch grabbing" and "Robotic moves".

His Controversies

Michael's life was full of controversies; among these controversies are his changing appearance and behavior which earned him the nickname "Wacko Jacko". To add more, his child sexual abuse case in 1983 although acquitted was generated significant controversy, damaging his public image.

He was married twice, first to Lisa Presley in 1994 and they were divorced on January 18, 1996 and later to Debbie Rowe in November 1996. He fathered two kids with her but they also got divorced in October 1999.

This Is It - The Final Curtain Call

After how many years of career hibernation, Michael announced his comeback world tour in London, England on July 13, 2009. This is entitled "This Is It" and added on a press release that this is "The Final Curtain Call".

Sad to say, 18 days before this concert, Michael had a cardiac arrest and the king of pop is now dead at the age of 50.

This is The Final Curtain call for the talented and incomparable artist, who not only gives "Thrill" to us but touch many lives by his influential contribution in the Music Industry.

Michael Jackson Bad Costume

Image : http://www.flickr.com

In our last article, we discussed Michael Jackson's famous costume from thriller. We're going to continue along that track with an examination of the Michael Jackson Bad Costume -- an outfit which impacted fashion for decades, and still impacts the style of some of the major counter-cultures.

Let's give the necessary preamble to this examination. When we're talking about Michael Jackson, the famous king of pop (may he rest in peace), there are many things that are undeniable about his career. His amazing talent spanned across many areas of performance, but most notably were his contributions to musical technique, dance, and style. Each one of these could have novels written about them, so as mentioned, we're going to focus in our magnifying glass on the Michael Jackson Bad Costume.

In a style very different from his other music videos, the Michael Jackson bad costume features a long haired Michael, decked all in black. The outfit is multi-layered, including a black jacket, black shirt, black gloves, thick black belt, black pants, and black boots. While I do call all of the items in the Michael Jackson bad costume "black," they all also have various accessories or latch-ons that are silver. On the jacket this includes a wide variety of chains, loops, links, and zippers. The gloves have studs/zippers. The belt includes chainlinks. The boots have extra zippers. The pants, however, have a different highlight -- red -- in a stripe along the side.

What's really impressive is that this is not an outfit that's very well designed for designing. Tall boots like these, tighter jackets, dangling chains and accessories, and all these other bells and whistles, simply don't make for a convenient dancing experience. Then again, neither does grabbing your crotch, but unless there's a cup included in the Michael Jackon bad costume, that's a part of this too! All kidding aside, the king of pop gives a very impressive display in this extravagent costume.

Though our counterculture movements don't want to acknowledge it, the Michael Jackson bad costume had a significant impact in the look and style of the punk rock, and later emo and goth offshoot countercultures. This video was released in 1987, years before the outfits with extra zippers, chains, and more became mainstream for any group. Though these looks were certainly influenced by the tough bedecked look of biker crews and hardcore rockers, the exact variations that the King of Pop put in are entirely unique.

If you walk into a Hot Topic store, or similar, you'll see outfits that are similar to this, even today. Of course, they're not identical, but the influence can clearly be seen if you're familiar with the video. The style of gloves being used in the video are very popular (especially among females) in today's punk rock and emo style.

So despite having passed on, Michael Jackson is alive in a thousand different ways. His music is immortal, his dances will always be remembered, and believe it or not, even decades later, the King of Pop is still working his way into our wardrobe. The amazingly unique and enticing style of this costume have been significant enough that fashion designers, and members of large counter culture movements, still copy this work (knowingly or unknowingly).

Now, with Halloween approaching, a lot of people are wanting to pay homage to the King of Pop. If you're looking for a fun outfit, where you can actually use some of the accessories in the rest of the year, then this costume is a great direction to go. Still, remember, if you're going to be doing the dance -- wear a cup.

The Real Story Behind Michael Jackson and Skin Bleaching

Image : http://www.flickr.com

In the year 1986, Michael Jackson - the king of pop, was diagnosed with vitiligo, and in a ninety minute interview by Oprah Winfrey in 1993, Michael Jackson for the first time admitted that he was suffering from an illness, and dismissed allegations regarding bleaching of his skin. This interview and admittance of suffering from vitiligo helped in promoting awareness about this disease which was almost unknown during that time.

Vitiligo is a disease which causes depigmentation of the skin, in patches. Vitiligo occurs when the cells responsible for pigmentation of skin, known as melanocytes, either die or are unable to function properly. The reason for occurrence of vitiligo is not completely understood yet and is very complex.

Recent studies and evidences have found vitiligo is caused by combined environmental autoimmune genetic factors. It is very common amongst people suffering from thyroid disorders.

Vitiligo can be classified into two broad groups:

1) Non-segmental: In the non segmental type of vitiligo (NSV) , there is some type of symmetry regarding to the location of the depigmented patches. New patches are formed with time, which can be formed over various parts of the body or can be localized or concentrated over one part or a particular region of the body.NSV , unlike its segmental counterpart (which occurs during teenage generally), can occur at any age

2) Segmental vitiligo: Segmental vitiligo (SV) is different in appearance, its treatment also differs from the treatment for NSV. Segmental vitiligo tends to affect those regions of the skin which are connected to the spinal cord through dorsal roots. The spreading of the patches in segmental vitiligo is much more rapid than NSV and untreated patches remain for life.

Glutathione is a tri peptide, It can be found found and synthesized naturally in, both, plants and animals. It is an good anti- oxidizing agent and acts as a very effective whitening agent if proper amount of is taken. Glutathione an as an anti oxidant agent cleans the consumers liver, protects the brain  and keeps it healthy by maintaining its level, as low levels of glutathione in the brain may lead to many disorders and illnesses. It is also safe for each and everyone, regardless of their age

Dosage:

The dosage for consumption of glutathione as an anti oxidizing agent is 20 to 30 mg per kg of body weight and for consumption of glutathione as a whitening agent it should be 20 to 40 mg per kg of body weight. The dosage of glutathione should be taken along with vitamin C and ascorbic acid in order to maximize its effects, it can also be taken with vitamin E , in order to achieve more better results, but excessive consumption of vitamin E for long periods can cause harm to the consumers body, so it is inadvisable to consume glutathione with vitamin E.

Glutathione has also been proven to be 100% effective in whitening skin.

The first 3 months for the consumption of glutathione are the most essential and important because during this time glutathione re aligns the chemistry of the body and only after this period the process of skin whitening starts. The rapidity of the whitening process varies from person to person depending upon the rate of metabolism and chemical functioning of the body. After the process begins the skin becomes healthier and shinier than before , and within a few days your skin complexion will become noticeably fairer.

A Great Thank You to Michael Jackson

Image : http://www.flickr.com

He's an artist that amassed nearly 200 awards for his pop music prowess and philanthropic gestures His childhood accomplishments with his brothers were eclipsed with one remarkable album entitled, 'Thriller'. It was at about this time Michael Jackson found a way to give back - in a big way.

Critically acclaimed "Kind of Calypso" Harry Belafonte had expressed an idea. He wanted to create a benefit album that would help with famine relief efforts in Africa. Jackson was not the first to be contacted. Lionel Ritchie along with country legend Kenny Rogers were first on the list of contacts. Stevie Wonder would also be added to the list of early talent expressing an interest in developing the project.

It was Lionel Ritchie who asked Michael Jackson to become involved in the project. It was this duo that moved the project forward and crafted the original song, "We Are the World". This collaboration has resulted in 62 million dollars being sent to Africa to aid in the vision of Belafonte and perpetuated by the enthusiasm of Michael Jackson and others.

Following this effort in 1985 Jackson began assuming a greater responsibility to give back.

Jackson has the distinction of assisting the most charitable organizations among all pop musicians through monetary or sponsorship support.

Did you know?

In 1984 Jackson funded the purchase of needed equipment for a 19-bed-unit for leukemia victims at Mount Senai New York Medical Center
Jackson donated all $1.5 million received from Pepsi for burns he received in the filming of a television advertisement to the Michael Jackson Burn Center for Children
Jackson developed a scholarship fund perpetuated with money derived from a $1.5 million Jackson endowment that funds this scholarship opportunity for African American students
All proceeds from the single "Man in the Mirror" were donated to Camp Ronald McDonald
Proceeds from various Jackson concerts have been dedicated to relief of underprivileged children in the immediate region of the concert
In the 90's Jackson developed the "Heal the World" Foundation that has provided millions of dollars in assistance on a wide variety of efforts including famine relief, drug and abuse counseling and assisting the underprivileged
Even following his death some of his personal effects such as his iconic glove and hat were scheduled be auctioned off to assist a program called MusiCares
Jackson was further honoured following his death with the 2009 Save The World Award for his lifelong commitment to giving back

In life, Jackson was unmistakable in both presence and style. In death his music was revived to ignite a new generation with music from an unbelievable era in history. His will provided for additional funding for charities.

Multiple sources agree that Jackson was extremely instrumental in paving the way for racial diversity in the field of music and in how that music was visualized by way of television. His groundbreaking work on videos like Thriller, Bad and Billie Jean suddenly opened the doors for black musicians to find television airtime for their music.

There were so many things Michael Jackson did that could be listed as firsts in the industry, but in most cases he gave and offered his support because this was an extension of who he was even when the cameras weren't clicking and the media had gone home. No matter how often he was misunderstood he was still quietly working to deliver a message of how things could and should be better.

Michael Jackson Merchandise

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Since the news of his death, it seems everybody is buying Michael Jackson merchandise as fast as the sellers can get it out! What are they buying and is it worth anything? The value of this type of memorabilia is not generally established with a cut and dry formula. It is determined by the collector and how the circumstances of the time at hand affect his decision to buy, and why.

Most of the Michael Jackson collector items are bought from avid fans and it holds much more sentimental value than monetary investment value. And that is a good thing! Collecting is rarely done for profit alone. It's a hobby and supposed to be fun. Of course, there are many pieces of Michael Jackson merchandise that is valuable in the money sense, but generally speaking, the masses of people are looking for keepsakes, mementos and tribute or memorial type products at this time.

Some items of value would be autographs, vintage concert shirts and dolls or action figures from the Thriller era. Autographs or signatures cannot, of course, be produced anymore and therefore hold a lot of value, especially unique one of a kind types with a COA. (certificate of authenticity) The original vintage t-shirts and jerseys from the concert days are also somewhat valuable, especially if they are in good condition. The toy dolls are another item that hold value, the originals from the 1980's, and if sealed in the original box all the better.

The vinyl, original Thriller and Bad Lp albums (and Jackson Five records) also hold their value. Interesting about Michael Jackson's Lp's, especially Thriller, is that this was around the start of the CD age and it makes old albums a "must have" for any collector of Michael Jackson memorabilia to own and add to his display.

No doubt new merchandising and marketing of "The king of pop" is going to be fierce for at least the next year. Most of this stuff is not very valuable, sentimentally or monetarily, to a collector, nor will it ever be. The good stuff is out there now!

People are going crazy emptying their attics and basements in search of of Michael Jackson items they stashed away years ago in order to make a few bucks today. That stuff is the real deal and there's lots of it out there right now for people who want it, either as a sentimental collector or a serious collector in search of rare, vintage Michael Jackson merchandise from years gone by.

Getting a Club DJ's Gig

Image : http://www.flickr.com

A DJ or a deejay is the short form for a disc jockey. A disc jockey is the person who plays music for the people and selects and plays according to the audience's taste. There are various types of DJ's such as a Radio DJ, Club-DJ, Mobile DJ's etc. A radio disc jockey plays music on radio stations. A club DJ is a deejay who plays music at clubs, bars, discotheques, at parties etc. A mobile disc jockey travels and plays music for audiences.

A Club disc-jockey usually uses the following equipment:

- Music
- Sound Mixer
- Multiple Sequencer
- Headphones
- Microphone

There are other equipments that augment a DJ's work such as the DJ mixer, disc-jockey digital controller etc, but the above mentioned are the most basic requirements for a disc-jockey.

If you are looking to get a DJ gig then choose a mid level club as large night clubs do not offer jobs that easily, though they are high paying ones. Large clubs not just offer more money but also a huge audience. To get a club DJs job you need to find out the clubs and their sizes in the area of your choice.

You would need to go to each one and meet the concerned person at the clubs and find out if they need a disc jockey. Even if there is a current D-J you can offer your mix CD and provide contact details. You never know when they might need another club disc- jockey.

Keep visiting the clubs every few weeks and let them know that you are there and in due course you will get a Club DJ gig.

The Swell Season - Strict Joy

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The Swell Season has done it again. But this time, they don't need a critically acclaimed film to back it up. I'm not going to fill you in on who singer/songwriters Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova are, because if you don't know about them by now, you probably haven't seen their critically acclaimed film, "Once." And you probably didn't see the 2008 Academy Awards, where they walked onstage to receive the Oscar for Best Original Song for "Falling Slowly" from "Once." And you most definitely were not aware of the two Grammy Awards the film's soundtrack was nominated for. But like I said, I won't tell you who they are...

What I will tell you is that the follow-up album to their self-titled debut is fantastic. Just like their debut album, "The Swell Season" from 2006, and "Once" from 2007, they again show us how much one can accomplish with so little. On the classy opening track, "Low Rising," they start off with a bang, combining their smooth soul flair with their usual spot-on harmonies. As usual, Irglova provides the quiet-yet-perfect backing voice to Hansard's loud powerful tone. She does, however, step up to the forefront on two later songs, "Fantasy Man" and "I Have Loved You Wrong," which are obviously written about her and Hansard's 2-year relationship that ended earlier this year. Of course, practically all the other songs on "Strict Joy" are as well.

My personal favorites are the uplifting "Feeling The Pull" and the contemplative "In These Arms." Both songs show the highly diverse range of The Swell Season, as they change from uptempo to slow and solemn. It sure wouldn't be an easy feat to beat or even match the success of their last record, but with an album this good, I can assure you, they won't be falling slowly anytime soon.

Michael Jackson, Finally in Neverland

Image : http://www.flickr.com

So much will be said about Michael Jackson over the next few weeks that I am reluctant to comment at all. Like most writers, I didn't know him. I was just a fan.  That being said, as I watch all of the tributes to Michael and listen to the music I am moved to write.

Like everyone else, I have been riveted to the television, watching endless coverage of his life. The media has been relentless in trying to dissect every aspect of his life. It seems like everyone whoever watched MTV is now an expert on Michael Jackson's deepest desires and his demons.

It is undeniable that Michael Jackson lived a complicated life. However, one thing can't be disputed. He was the ultimate entertainer. He gave us all that he had. However, when we had him, we loved him, but we treated him bad.

Michael grew up in front of us. And we experienced everything with him along the journey. He taught us our ABC's. He made us dream. He made us dance. While we believed that he was more than a little off the wall, we always believed in the music. After he began to change, we judged him harshly. However, we still longed to be thrilled again.

Michael Jackson knocked us off of our feet. Every artist with potential since "Thriller" has been compared to him, but they haven't come close. He was in a class by himself. As the ticket sales for his concert tour that was scheduled this summer indicate, we wanted him back.

He represented the best of us and the worst of us. We longed for what he made us feel. We missed the man who made us think it was OK to be dangerous. We were relieved that someone encouraged us to keep our secrets in the closet. However, we wondered what secrets he was hiding. We wanted more of the man that made us believe that we were free to love whomever we wanted whenever we wanted-because it was nobody's business.

Michael asked us to look at ourselves and to make the world a better place. He criticized racism and made us question whether color mattered at all, even though his own skin became increasingly lighter.

His life was paradoxical. Indeed, eventually, it seemed as bizarre as it was incredible. There's no doubt that Michael gave us cause to question a lot of things. However, at the end of the day, millions of people feel a great loss.

We are in shock. I think that it's because for good reasons and for odd ones, Michael didn't seem quite human. It's as if we believed that he wouldn't stop because he would never get enough.

Ironically, his death humanized him in a way that his life never did. Even though we all had him, he was alone. Watch the shows chronicling his life, his maturation, and the evolution of his face is incredibly sad. On earth, Michael was searching for something that he never found. Now, that he is in Neverland I hope that he has found what he was looking for.

A Michael Jackson Halloween Costume - The Perfect Tribute to the King of Pop

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The perfect tribute to the king of pop is a Michael Jackson Halloween costume. It doesn't matter whether you are young or old; if you have been touched by the music of Michael Jackson there are several decades to choose from when deciding on what era to represent in his image. Young kids can focus on Michael's early years with the Jackson 5 while older kids and adults may want to focus on his image from the 1980s or 1990s.

His Motown Image

Michael Jackson started early in the music business by singing with his older brothers in the group called the Jackson 5 under the Motown label in the mid 1960s to mid 1970s. Young Michael could be depicted with a simple Halloween costume of 1970s polyester and an afro wig. A solid color button shirt with a wide collar and plaid pants along with the wig can be purchased through a variety of costume shops that deal with 1970s pieces.

The Thriller Years

Michael Jackson's "Thriller" album is the best selling of all time with over 110 million sold around the world. It is also a great source for several different types of Michael Jackson Halloween Costumes. The album cover features Michael wearing a white suit with a black shirt and black belt, something that can be somewhat easy to reproduce.

In the video, Michael sported a red leather jacket with black detailing shaped like a "V" across the front and the sleeves pushed up along with red pants and a black shirt. Of course, Michael Jackson was also a zombie in the "Thriller" video, so you could sport some gruesome make-up with the red ensemble.

Popular 80's Looks

The jeweled glove is perhaps one of the most recognized wardrobe pieces Michael Jackson wore. You can purchase a jeweled white or silver glove from a costume store or even make your own with a rhinestone applicator or even fake jewels and hot glue. This single white or silvery glove worn on his right hand often accompanied a number of basic wardrobes.

Michael was partial to sequined or braided militia jackets with a white shirt and tight black pants and worn with the single glove. Another Michael Jackson Halloween costume idea consists of a black fedora, aviator glasses, black pants and white t-shirt with a large red shirt layered over the t-shirt. If the black fedora is a favored accessory, you will want to wear a black wig beneath it so that strands of hair are strategically hanging down.

You can likely mix up a few different ideas as long as you use recognizable "Michael" accessories such as the jeweled glove, black fedora, wig and aviator glasses. If you can master some dance moves depicted in his music videos, particularly the moonwalk, you will have a winning Michael Jackson Halloween costume that is sure to pay homage to his memory.

Michael Jackson - RIP King of Pop

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Yesterday was surely a day the world will remember forever. June 25th will forever be etched in our minds as the day the king of pop, Michael Jackson has passed. The world sits today with heavy hearts as we realize our beloved pop icon has gone so suddenly.

MJ was rushed to the hospital yesterday afternoon after a 911 emergency call from his Holmby Hills home. Michael had suffered cardiac arrest and when the paramedics arrived, he was found with no pulse and was unresponsive. Sources say that Michael was dead already when help arrived. He was rushed to UCLA Medical center where physicians tried to revive him, but were unsuccessful.

This news came as a complete shock to the world as MJ had just announced a series of 50 concerts in London's O2 Arena that was scheduled to begin on July 13th. It was said that tickets were sold out completely in under an hour.

Michael is survived by his three children, Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince "Blanket" Michael Jackson II.

While Michael is gone from the physical world, his legacy is sure to surpass the ages. While most of his career took off way before the digital world we live in today, MJ had the top five album downloads on iTunes store and seven of the top 10 this morning. In addition, in Amazon.com's CD section, the top 15 sellers were by Michael Jackson or the Jackson 5. And certainly this trend will continue to remain constant.

Despite all of MJ's allegations and repeated attempts by others to tarnish his reputation, he is the true king of pop and he will live on through his music.

Resources to Help Kids Learn and Enjoy the Piano

Image : http://www.flickr.com

If your child is beginning to learn piano and is having trouble getting enthused about the idea there are a number of different sheet music themes that kids will relate to.

My young daughter showed an interest in playing piano from a young age, not so much because of my own piano playing (I can't) or the fact that we had a piano in the house (we didn't until recently) but because she loved Harry Potter.

On the odd occasion we went to a music store she would find a piano that we allowed her to sit at and then try to play the first few notes of John William's famous Hedwig's Theme, the main score for the Harry Potter films. Seeing this I finally decided it was time for me to learn piano, one of the things on my "List Of Things To Do Before I Die" and in doing so, introduce her to piano as well.

Rather than get her lessons at this stage I went to lessons myself and also purchased the Harry Potter Easy Piano Sheet music. Through learning this together (and very roughly mind you) she developed a real interest for the piano and a yearning to learn. Now she can't wait to get lessons and learn herself.

So my daughter's entry point was Harry Potter but for your child it might be different. There are a number of Easy Piano books out there and all require a level of beginner competence but if you help your child then playing a few notes that sound like a favourite song can spur them on to learn more.

If your child loves Disney then you could try "Teaching Little Fingers to Play: Disney Tunes" which is aimed at early beginners and includes songs like 'Kiss The Girl' and 'Can You Feel The Love Tonight'.

There is other sheet music from famous musicians, films and tv series that kids are interested in so if your child is not engaging with the piano, sit down with them and help them become interested with music that interests them.

Michael Jackson Party Costume

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Without a doubt, Michael Jackson will be a popular costume choice this Halloween among both adult party goers and neighborhood trick or treaters. There's already a mad dash for props and costumes as this Halloween season approaches.

Dressing up as Michael Jackson can be a fun costume because there's a few things you can do with the different decades of change througout his career. Of course the ready made all in one costumes are pretty abundant and easy to find, as are the masks, but these won't win you any contests or compliments. If you want to impress your co-workers at the corporate party or win any contests, you are going to be creating your own costume. Becoming the "king of pop" is a great choice and you'll look great!

Thrift stores are a great place to find props, but you've really got to act fast as people are hitting them pretty hard about now in search of Michael Jackson costume props. Another alternative is Ebay which usually brings good results. some of the more important items you will need are a few of the Michael Jackson signature pieces. Since these peices can make or break your costume, these are the things you need to get going on right away.

Examples of signature Michael Jackson clothing are pieces such as the Red Beat It jacket. If you can find a decent leather one you'll have a great start on one real nice looking costume! The rest of that costume is basic, just black pants and shoes and you'll want to take a look at the shirt.

There is the black Fedora hat which is a must have if you are going with the Billie Jean video look. The white sequin glove should be very easy to find. The pants, shirt and shoes shouldn't be too hard but again, if you can get in on it now you can get a better deal.

The Smooth Criminal video has some nice dress in it. This time a white fedora hat with a black band around it, the blue shirt and white pinstripe jacket. Gangster shoes, white tie and white pants. There was the Bad tour and the military jacket look and straight hair. Finding a picture for any of these ideas is very easy. Just google Michael Jackson and the name of a song or album and you'll get a great picture that you can use to find your party costume props! (Use google images for best results)

The face is not difficult to do either. A wig will be easy to find and you can buy a cheap one and spruce it up a bit, trim it, curl it or whatever you need for your costume look. Unless you are going for the Jackson Five era, Michael used makeup in a very distinct way. His eyes and brows especially. A little lip liner too. Just experiment with the picture you are trying to duplicate. If you get the eyes, lips and brows right, everybody's going to know exactly who you are dressed as, especially with the proper Michael Jackson clothing on.

Check out a bunch of pictures first so you know what you need. Choose the best one or two and use those as your guide. There are several distinctive Michael Jackson looks you can do and each one is not that difficult. With a little creativity, you can stand out in the crowd and win that contest with the best Michael Jackson party costume in town!

The Museum of Madame Tussauds

Image : http://www.flickr.com

It was during her childhood that little Marie Grosholtz learned to become an artist and sculptor. Having honed her talent with the employer of her mother, she created her first wax figures in 1777 at the age of sixteen. The employer of her mother was an artist, physicist and physician Philippe Curtius. At the age of Twenty-four, the young woman married and became Madam Tussaud. Recognized for her talent in France, it was in England that the artist became famous. In London, Marie Tussaud has her own wax statue, a beautiful portrait.

The history of Madame Tussaud

Marie was a Marianne, a figure of the French Revolution. Her early accomplishments as an artist-sculptor hinted her ideas, her commitment. After participating in the exhibition projects of his mentor, the doctor Philippe Curtius, she began to make her own works by immortalizing writers and philosophers, in 1777 Voltaire and Jean-Jacques Rousseau in 1778. The rebel was sentenced to the guillotine, but through her artistic talent, she was fortunately spared. Her sentence proved very strange indeed she had to make death masks for beheaded. She had immortalized the faces of her friends died for the revolution.

In 1794, Marie inherited the figures of his mentor Philippe Curtius before becoming Madam Tussaud a year later. For her husband Francois Tussaud, she gave birth to two sons. The artist continued her work and decided to exhibit her collection in London in 1802, accompanied by her eldest son. Because of the war, she found herself sheltered in England where she continued to present her masterpiece in exhibitions. Permanently installed across the channel, Marie Tussaud chose London as the final destination. No more traveling exhibition in 1835, she then opened the Baker Street Bazaar to display her collections. The artist presented the figures of the revolutionaries and their murderers, staged in what would be called House of Horrors.

A multinational museum

In 1884, more than thirty years after the death of Marie Tussaud, the museum which displayed her works was moved to Marylebone Road, its current location. In 1926, after a fire that ravaged many works, the company Tussauds Group is created. After having pasted figurines melted by the flames, the museum was undergoing a veritable revolution. It became one of the most important tourist attractions of London. The company Tussauds then set out to conquer the world. Officially known as Madame Tussauds, wax museums are multiplying in the largest cities in the world such as Amsterdam to Las Vegas via New York and Hong Kong and Shanghai and Washington and Berlin and Los Angeles recently. A hugely successful multinational company, the Tussauds Group was bought out several times. In 2007, the buyer called Merlin Entertainments, which has invested one billion pounds.

In Hollywood, actors and film legends are immortalized at Madame Tussauds. Some of the cinema stars have their wax statue in several cities, like Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Nicolas Cage, Whoopi Goldberg and Marilyn Monroe. At Madame Tussauds, the singers also have right to glory. The legends as Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, the Beatles, Madonna compete with young stars like Britney Spears or international Beyonce. Politicians are not forgotten by history when they are at Madame Tussauds, the example of Abraham Lincoln, Mahatma Gandhi, John Kennedy. Certainly, being chairman of a country deserves a statue, without political considerations.

The Nicolas Sarkozy, Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, Nelson Mandela, Muammar Gaddafi, Saddam Hussein, Adolph Hitler have their figures in at least one of wax museums. In London, at the site of Madame Tussauds, the statues of more than 400 personalities are exhibited in the Hall of Fame. Usually, celebrities lend themselves gracefully to the opening of their statue in a wax museum as Madame Tussauds. There are some exceptions particularly among politicians who are more reticent. At Madame Tussaud's, the value does not expect the number of years. It's more than true for personalities from the world of film, song and sport. Roles of teenagers like Harry Potter or Troy Bolton from High School Musical have brought Daniel Radcliffe and Zac Efron in the temple of celebrity wax. Young champions such as Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton or footballer Wayne Rooney will access to glory soon.

To perform a full tour of Madame Tussauds, it takes about two hours. Through various events, visitors do not see the time passing. When you are hurry, you can go directly to your favorite star and be photographed with her. Simply place like a statue. More than a house of fame, the museum Madame Tussauds is not limited to offer entertainment. It opens a window on history by featuring characters from another generation.

Inspiration From the Life and Death of Michael Jackson

Image : http://www.flickr.com

It's the summer of 2009 and the world pays tribute to a much loved, celebrated icon, Michael Jackson. It's sad to see him go. I have been a fan of The Jacksons and then Michael Jackson since my childhood days. And though I never met him, it feels as though my own brother has passed away. Being one who chooses to look on the brighter side (though as in this case, that's often very hard) I have decided to look on the highlights of Michael's life and draw insight from his death. It helps to ease the pain, as I believe he would have wanted for his fans. I draw three points of inspiration from the life and death of Michael Jackson and I invite you to share them with me:

(1) Michael Jackson went for his dreams with full gusto. And reached them.
His ambition began brewing early in his career. It was his dream to become the biggest force in entertainment. With the help of Quincy Jones on his 1982 Thriller a megahit was made, with several others following. His 1987/1989 tour promoting Bad was the largest ever by any solo performer. It resulted in record sales of over 750 million. And Bad is still the only album in history to generate five No.1 hits. He clearly never did anything in half-measures.

(2) Michael Jackson achieved much and gave much as well.
Through his charity, the Heal the World Foundation, founded in 1992, he airlifted 46 tons of supplies to Sarajevo, donated millions of dollars to the world's less fortunate children, contributed to drug and alcohol abuse education and covered the costs of a Hungarian child's liver transplant. He also donated millions of dollars from proceeds of his tours and concerts through this charity. He is listed in the 2000 Guinness Book of World Records as breaking the record for the Most Charities supported by a Pop Star, having donated to 39 charities besides his own.

(3) Michael Jackson, in spite of his megastar status, was a human being like you and I
Humanity is frail. No matter the heights we attain in life we shall all be leveled in death. It is humbling to acknowledge that we are dust, and to dust we shall all return. Though life can be exciting and filled with success, death is also a fact of life. It's just that we must each wait our turn. It was Michael's turn, and so he has left us. One day it will be yours and mine. It should therefore be our aim to fulfill our God-given life purpose, before our time is up. I'll surely be keeping this in mind.

Let us learn from Michael Jackson to pursue our dreams with full gusto, be inspired to achieve much and to give more in return, and that we all have a final appointment to keep with Our Maker some day. As we step out of this life to keep this great appointment, may we be able to look back on a life that fulfilled its purpose. And to look forward, well prepared.

Jamie Fox on Michael Jackson

Image : http://www.flickr.com

It was a fitting tribute - Jamie Foxx On Michael Jackson - during the Bet Awards 2009. The entire Bet Awards night was a tribute befitting a king of pop and stars of all genre of music paid their tributes to the greatest entertainer the world has ever seen. The host of the show was Jamie Fox and he thought it fitting to come in a Jackson outfit.

Jamie Foxx appeared on stage wearing the jacket from the hit Jackson song and video "Beat It" and the entire costume complete with the white glove reminded one of the legend. After initially greeting the audience he immediately took to the stage with his own performance of "Beat It".

After a standing ovation to the song and the moon walk danced performed by him Jamie Foxx went on to pay tribute to the greatest legend of pop Michael Jackson in his own inimitable style and lot of people considered the speech and the remarks offending to the memory of the king of pop.

Jamie Foxx commented about the nose and color of the man he was paying tribute to and how both his nose shape and color changed over the years. He wanted the world not to mourn the death of a legend but instead celebrate the life and times of Michael Jackson.

It has proven by research that a lot of men react to sad news like death by smiling or cracking jokes as they feel it takes away the pain. Jamie Foxx reacted the same way which many considered disgusting to the memory of the legend. Jamie Foxx On Michael Jackson proved to be bad and inappropriate way to honor and remember a legend.

Michael Jackson in Billie Jean As a Halloween Costume Idea

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Billie Jean was one of Michael Jackson's biggest hits and is the first music video to break the color barrier when it was played on MTV. Before the song's release, no other African-American video had been played on air. Billie Jean was more than a ground breaking video though; it was a stylistic, artistic video and with it came Michael's stylish and dramatic wardrobe as well.

With his passing, there are sure to be plenty of Michael fans who will be wearing the look that best captures their favorite image of the king of pop, whether it was from his childhood or beyond. The Billie Jean look is sure to get plenty of representation this year and beyond.

Regardless of how old you were when it was first released or whether you are a fan or not, the Billie Jean video had something for nearly everybody. Not just a pop song, not quite a rock song, it bridged the gap between the two genres like no other song could and Jackson spanned that gap like no other man could.

This costume starts with the jacket, black with onyx sequins. A black button down shirt with sparkly silver sequins is also included. The costume's look is completed with the included silver sequin glove and matching socks. The jacket and shirt come in adult sizes M-L and the gloves and socks are one-size fits most. You add your own pants and shoes to this costume. For an authentic look, aim to have the pants hit you at just above the ankle like in the video and show off your dazzling, sparkly socks for dramatic flair.

Additional accessories for the Billie Jean video costume include the Michael Jackson wig and make up kits. If you really want to rock the look, practice some of MJ's top dance moves and bring along the Billie Jean music to play as you enter the room for effect. After all, Michael did not get to be the king of pop because he was shy and retiring and if you are going to pay tribute to the man, you should at least come near some of his razzle dazzle and showmanship.

The Best Self-Defense Stun Gun For Women

Image : http://www.flickr.com

It is hard enough for women. Most of them have to work, raise and care for the kids, manage and maintain the households, to mention just a few.

Now women have deal with the fact that they are most likely to be the victim of a violent crime. It is estimated that a woman is assaulted or raped every 45 seconds in this country. Rape, physical violence, domestic violence, robberies, home invasions, and college campus crimes are most likely directed at women. This explains why there are several self-defense products for women in the market now.

But, the best self-defense stun gun for women is the pretender cell phone stun gun. Ladies, this new powerful self-defense stunner can stop any attacker dead in their tracks. It is called the pretender because it's a stun gun that pretends to be a camera cell phone, but it's not. It is a powerful 950,000 volt stun gun. It really does gives you an edge since an attacker will think you are just carrying a cell phone.

The energy stored in this pretender is dumped into the attacker's muscles causing them to do a great deal of work rapidly. In short, he is unable to produce energy for his muscles and his body is unable to function properly. Thereby, causing his muscular system to be overwhelmed so that he loses his balance. This high voltage stunner temporarily disables an attacker for several minutes, giving you enough time to escape or get help. It will not cause permanent damage. Should the attacker be touching you, the current will NOT pass to your body.

Michael Jackson - This is It!

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Michael Jackson: This is It confirms why Michael Jackson is and always will be the king of pop. His dancers are clearly the best of the best and nothing short of perfect. The care and attention to every detail that Michael gave to insure that this show would have been a phenomenal success, shows just how much Michael loved his fans. The elaborate stage productions of each song were spectacular. The video sequences were clearly classic Michael Jackson. Watching him on screen larger than life is truly an unforgettable experience. This was the perfect farewell to see him in action on stage performing doing what he loved to do. Even though the footage is of him rehearsing Michael still gives his all in every aspect.

The choreography is nothing short of brilliant. The synchronized dance steps and Michael right in the front never missing a beat. Michael appeared to be fit, happy and in great voice. All of the principal dancers were handpicked by Michael through auditions that were held when he was searching for dancers for his tour. He made the right choices. His dancers were phenomenal. Every dance sequence was unique and fresh and extremely well choreographed by Michael and his choreographer. At age 49 Michael Jackson was at the top of his game. This tour would have been the pinnacle of his career. Watching him dance made you forget he was 49. You were just watching Michael at his best. We could only hope to be in that good of shape when we get his age.

The songs sounded just the way he wanted them to. His voice was magnificent. Michael put great care into his music. In every sound check of every rehearsal for each and every song Michael sang with feeling. He put his all in every aspect of this tour. "Love lives forever," are the words of Michael Jackson. Love does indeed live forever because we will forever love Michael Jackson. There will never be another.

Michael gave a great deal of time and money too many children's charities during his life as well as leaving one fifth of his assets to children charities in his will per the Associated Press.  He loved children and took time when touring to secretly visit sick children.

Neverland was built with the passion to give sick and terminally ill children a place to enjoy their childhood. Michael had special rooms built to accommodate the children to stay over so they could have an opportunity to enjoy childhood, and for a moment not think of only there illnesses. The 2000 edition of The Guinness Book Of World Records listed Michael Jackson breaking the world record for "Most Charities Supported By a Pop Star" At that time 39 Charities were listed.   He helped charities from the Aids Project L.A., helping kids get off the streets of L.A., Scholarship funds, Children's Institute International, Dreams Come True Charity, Child help USA, Rotary Club of Australia,  Society of Singers, NAACP, Trans Africa, UNCF, National Rainbow Coalition, Just to name a few but the list goes on and on.

The 'Michael Jackson' Diet

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Okay, there is not in fact an official 'Michael Jackson' diet but his lifestyle is worth knowing about if you are interested in losing weight. There are two basic principles to follow if you want to attain the physique of that lean, mean, dancing machine who was (and still is) the king of pop.

1. Eat healthy - in Michael Jackson's case, this meant vegetarian. That doesn't mean you have to cut out all animal products altogether (which is vegan). But Michael Jackson diet rules included vegetarianism. What does that mean for weight loss?

Well, a vegetarian diet is typically higher in fibre and water, because more of your protein comes from nuts, beans and grains in combinations to provide excellent low-fat nutrition. That helps with weight loss by
* making you feel fuller for longer so you can eat less,
* keeping your blood-sugar levels steady for more sustained energy,
* removing toxins from the body that can inhibit weight-loss,
* and even carrying a certain amount of fat undigested through the system so it never enters the 'weight-gain equation' at all.

2. Exercise as much as you possibly can every day. That's right! Michael Jackson rehearsed for concerts and performances for five hours or so each day, according to his personal trainer recently. He was in excellent physical shape. So a 'Michael Jackson diet' is not just about eating healthily but also about burning off large quantities of energy.

For you, it might not be possible to fit in a 5-hour dance rehearsal each day of the working week. But think about this: if you really took every possible opportunity you could to use your body energetically, how much exercise could you fit in?
* Don't just take the stairs - run up as many of them as you can. (Maybe even do one flight at the top twice, just for fun.)
* Bicycle to work even when it's raining. (More exercise available by carrying a change of clothes.)
* Dance to your ipod for five minutes during your coffee break.

You get the idea. As much exercise as possible.

The two basic principles of eat healthy, exercise often are the fundamental principles of an energetic, slim physique. That is certainly something we remember about Michael Jackson. So even if the only way you commemorate him is by adopting a 'Michael Jackson diet' to lose a few pounds and look good on the dance-floor, perhaps that is what would make him happiest.

Understanding Michael Jackson's Death - Are Sleeping Pills Safe For Anyone?

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The day Michael Jackson died, he was injected with two anxiety medications, Lorazepam and Midazolam followed by the anesthetic Proprofol. But some reports also stated that the powerful painkillers, Demerol, Dilaudid and Vicodin were in his system, along with the muscle relaxant Soma, the antidepressants Zoloft and Paxil, the anxiety medication Xanax, and the heartburn pill Prilosec. Yet the official cause of death was ruled acute Proprofol intoxication.

Most are under the mistaken belief that Michael was addicted to anesthesia, but for anyone has become dependent on sleeping pills or anxiety medications, we already know how desperate we become for rejuvenating sleep.

6-1/2 years ago I quit a cocktail of sleeping pills and anxiety medications and felt my world implode. I've had 34 surgeries on my spine and legs and thought I was strong. But I was not prepared for the horrific withdrawals from these pills. For many months I questioned my sanity without any belief that I could regain my cognitive function or normal sleep patterns. I am a writer and I lost that magical connection to the written word. It was the blackest of times, filled with the deepest despair. And this is where I believe Michael Jackson found himself.

In 1984 Michael was injured while filming a Pepsi commercial and placed on painkillers, which led him into treatment. But in 1992 he was taking multiple sedatives, including Valium, Ativan and Xanax, and addiction to these medications (benzodiazepines) can rebound into horrific insomnia. They also increase pain, so when Jackson was injured during the Dangerous Tour, it wasn't surprising that by the mid-90s, he reportedly had an anesthesiologist traveling with him.

I was on these classifications of pills for ten years, and had I been given access to an anesthetic, I would have taken it for a few hours of rest. All I was seeking was a good night's sleep and instead I became trapped by medications I initially believed were my salvation. I firmly believe Michael found himself in the same chemical straightjacket.

In 1993, Michael admitted he was addicted to benzodiazepines (Xanax, Valium, Ativan) and went into drug treatment for a few months. But quitting benzodiazepines cold turkey can destroy sleep further and take many months to begin the healing process. Most will reinstate the pills because the withdrawals are too debilitating. By 2004 it was reported that Jackson was taking 20-40 Xanax a day.

My cocktail of medications were similar to Michael Jackson and Heath Ledger, and it saddens me greatly that they lost their lives to prescription drugs. How I lived through my debacle is a mystery, but it had such a profound impact that I began a non-profit organization to help others escape the clutch of this epidemic.

Ironically, mercury poisoning was the cause of my insomnia, but I would not discover this for many years. Instead, I became a willing participant to a chemical experiment that ripped through my world. Unfortunately the same is happening to millions of other people and often starts with insomnia.

The sleeping prescription pill market is an enormous industry and we are essentially supporting products that are slowly destroying us. I didn't know that forcing my brain into submission was not true sleep, but that natural sleep is a complex mechanism triggered by a group of hormones that create a state of rest for the body and mind.

As we sleep, consciousness is suspended while the brain undergoes a cycle of brainwave activity that includes dreaming. The heart and lungs slow and our normally active brainwave patterns diminish tremendously, until we dream. Our blood vessels dilate and the blood that is usually stored in our organs moves into our muscles for tissue repair. The growth hormone in children is secreted during sleep, as are critical chemicals that protect the immune system. So it is no surprise that children placed on stimulant medication have stunted growth and weakened immune systems. I had reoccurring bronchitis and pneumonia and even contracted a staph infection in withdrawal.

Natural sleep doesn't just support physical health, but has a profound effect on our brain as it organizes and archives memories. It is also essential to the creative process. Rolling Stones' guitarist Keith Richards claims the riff in "I Can't Get No Satisfaction" came to him in his sleep, while Dmitri Mendeleev, the 19th century chemist, said he literally dreamed the periodic table of elements.

During the night, we shift from the predominant NREM (non-rapid eye movement) dreamless sleep to short segments of REM (rapid eye movement) state where dreams occur. Both NREM and REM sleep cycles are necessary to have restorative effects. But sleep medications dramatically reduce the length of time we spend in the dream stage and instead keep us in a light dreamless sleep. To make matters worse, sleeping pills (Ambien, Lunesta) and benzodiazepines (Valium, Klonopin, Restoril, Xanax, Ativan) do not actually improve sleep, but rather create an amnesiac effect that make us forget we are waking up. Unfortunately, most of us misinterpret this state as deeper sleep. The longer we take the pills; even the dreamless sleep shortens in duration and leads to deeper exhaustion and anxiety. To compound matters, sleeping pills only induce sleep an average of 12 minutes quicker and 30 minutes longer than without them. But chemical dependency can occur within three consecutive nights of use, causing painful rebound insomnia, raging anxiety, and memory impairment.

Many people add herbs and over-the-counter medications in an attempt to gain a few hours of needed rest. It is not that herbs are dangerous-that is a misconception. But most people do not realize there is risk of a serious interaction when sleep medications are combined with items like passionflower, valerian, or antihistamines. Sleeping pills and benzodiazepines accentuate the GABA neurotransmitter, which keeps the nerve cells in the lung tissue from firing. That is why sleeping pills combined with over-the-counter medications or herbs that accentuate GABA or intensify the effect of the pills will overly suppress respiration, causing asphyxiation. This is what killed Heath Ledger.

And combining sleeping pills with other medications can stop the breathing; cause a coma or cause cardiac arrest. This is what killed Michael Jackson.

But GABA doesn't just affect the lungs. It is an amino acid that naturally occurs in our nervous system. There are approximately 45 million GABA receptors in the body, and 75 percent are affected by sleeping pills and benzodiazepines. GABA regulates our sleep cycles, body temperature, muscles, and all hormone functions of the body. It's no wonder the withdrawals from these drugs are deemed the most challenging-even more than heroin or cocaine. I remember clearly wishing I had been an illegal drug addict, as the cold-turkey withdrawals would have passed quickly. The only safe way to withdraw from these medications is through a gradual taper, one that allows the brain and body a chance to adjust at each level of reduction.

It wasn't my path to have an easy withdrawal, and I firmly believe the reason was to help address this epidemic of pill usage. I've worked with people from all over the world who are addicted to these medications. Most are taking one or two prescriptions and suffering the same intensity of symptoms I did on a cocktail of drugs. I realized long ago that any dose of sleep medication is dangerous.

In spite of the fact that I made every step of my medication journey improperly, I also made it back to complete health. I no longer suffer from pain, anxiety, or insomnia. My sleep patterns have returned, and at the age of 52, I feel better than I have in 20 years. You see, what I've also realized is that our bodies are amazing machines with a symphony of chemicals that yearn to be healthy. It has a remarkable capacity to heal if given the right nutrients.

I have chosen to help people in their darkest hour, but I also get the privilege of watching them regain what I now have - my freedom.

How to Prevent Bed Sores

Image : http://www.flickr.com

If you have limited mobility due to accident injury, disability, or age, you should know how to prevent bed sores. Even if you are confined to a bed or a wheelchair for long periods of time, there are actions you or your caregiver can take to make sure you do not have to endure the added pain and treatment of bed sores.

Technically speaking, bed sores are actually pressure sores on any part of the body where the skin is being stressed by long periods of immobility and added difficulties in repositioning. You do not have to be confined to a bed, in order to suffer from bed sores. Thus, it is important to be aware of the potential for sores and know how to do everything possible to prevent them from occurring in the first place.

The key is to be proactive and take the necessary steps to prevent bed sore. For example:

Positioning
Inspections
Nutrition
Lifestyle Changes

Although it will not guarantee that bed sores will not occur, it will definitely reduce the opportunities for these painful and often dangerous sores from making life miserable.

Positioning

Avoid staying in one position for extended periods of time. If you are able, move around frequently to redistribute weight to other areas of the body. For those who cannot move, it is up to the caregiver to move his/her charge around periodically. For those who are confined to a wheelchair, one designed to recline can be helpful in making sure the immobile individual can change positions.

Inspections

Although it is probably not the most pleasant of tasks, it is important to check for bed sores on a daily basis. Anywhere the skin comes in constant contact with the bed or the chair, take notice. For those prone to develop bed sores, it may only take a day or two to develop a big problem that can quickly turn into a serious health concern. Once a bed sore develops, it is very painful and difficult to treat.

Nutrition

Surprisingly, good nutrition can help prevent bed sores from making life painfully miserable. If the disabled person is underweight, he/she is more likely to suffer pressure sores. Good nutrition also helps the body produce healthy skin, which is less likely to erupt into sores. Thus, it is important to eat a well balanced diet, as much as possible.

Lifestyle Changes

Sorry folks. Lifestyle changes can make a big difference in whether a person is prone to develop bed sores. Yes. One more reason to quit smoking has come to light. Immobile individuals who smoke are more likely to have bed sores.

In addition, exercise is so important. If you are disabled and cannot do it for yourself, it is time to ask someone to help you exercise and move your body around a little bit. Whether people have limited mobility or not, exercise is still key in staying as healthy as possible.

Now you Know

Now you know a few things you can do to prevent bed sores in you or someone you love. Pressure sores can be dangerous and life threatening, if left undetected and untreated. So, be proactive; be cautious; be painful bed sore free.

Michael Jackson Psychic Readings - Spooky! Here What Psychic Mediums Say About the King of Pop!

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Are you curious what really happened to Michael Jackson? Do you believe the conspiracies, the murder for hire plots and the other wild wackiness that surrounds the sensational life (and death) of the biggest star in the world? If you said yes...you are NOT alone! The truth is, millions of people have been captivated by the tragedy that took the life of Michael Jackson, and no matter WHAT you thought of him in life...there is certainly much to be learned from his death. And if you talk to some of the world famous mediums and psychics, much of Michael's destiny was carved in his creative Karma a long time ago!

So What Do Many World Famous Mediums Believe REALLY Happened to MJ?

It should be no surprise that many mediums and other intuitives have gotten messages from Michael Jackson from the "other side". Like Princess Di, John Kennedy Jr and other famous superstars who died FAR too young....MJ was known to have a fascination with psychic phenomena, his own death...and of course, what waits beyond. Several famous mediums have claimed that Michael died truly without any conspiracy, NOT at the hand of any criminal intent or enterprise...and simply died the tragic death of a creative superstar who was cursed by too much fame, too much money and too much sadness. With his spirit now FREE...this free spirited soul is now safe and secure in the warm embrace of the ethereal realms....where he is basked in love, light and the nurturing care of those who loved him in life, and passed over before he did.

Are there some that say otherwise? How about those who predict that Michael was killed...or the subject of a larger conspiracy?

Honestly? I'm plugged into ( and pay attention) to much of the "conversation" and gossip that goes on in the psychic space. And I can tell you that most of the best mediums and GENUINE psychics who have been able e to access Michael since he's passed in spiritual form....don't believe that at all. You are, of course, ALWAYS going to have those who fan the flames of controversy, but by and large....MOST believe not only is the spirit of Michael Jackson in a far better ( and brighter) place, he's truly home...and finally, after a lifetime of sadness. happy once again.

Michael Jackson's Health Problems

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The problem with being a superstar is that all eyes are focused on you. One small move and it is already documented, talked about and dissected. So you can just imagine what Michael Jackson had to go through when through the years his appearance started to change.

MJ started to change his look drastically. And this was no simple hairdo makeover or fashion change. Michael grew up in front of many people as the lead singer of the Jacksons 5 when he was very young - and it is well-established that he is of African-American descent.

But by the mid-1980s, the changes were harder to ignore. His skin tone started to become whiter and whiter. His nose suffered an injury while he was working on a musical project. Because of this he underwent rhinoplasty or nose surgery. He was also observed to have undergone a forehead lift, cheekbone surgery and an altering of the lips. This was even more marked during his later years: his hair was now straight; his entire body was of a white skin tone, his lips seemed to have enlarged a bit and he had a cleft chin put up.

Imagine by the year 1990, close friends of Michael Jackson have estimated that he already had ten cosmetic procedures. If that was a fast trend for him, just how many more did he do after 19 years?

A friend of Michael for 20 years, Dr. Deepak Chopra had this to say: "What became his compulsion with cosmetic surgery was an expression of self-mutilation, a total lack of respect for himself."

In a move that is still being argued as just a PR move, MJ was said to have been diagnosed in the mid-1980s to have the condition called vitiligo. This announcement was pronounced in the midst of rumors that he was bleaching his skin. Vitiligo is a condition where patches of skin seem to lose its melanin and become a bit white.

Michael has also been said to have the lethal condition that is lupus which made him sensitive to sunlight. Because of this he depended on Solaquin, Tretinoin and Benoquin to compensate. He was also applying hydroxychloroquine injections in his scalp for the same purpose.

According to J. Randy Taraborrelli, these medications contributed to his paler skin.

His weight also plummeted down because he had this desire to be in a dancer's body, so to speak. His lowest weight was at 105 pounds and mind you, he was five foot eleven.

Another issue with Michael has been his dependence on prescription drugs especially painkillers and strong sedatives. Because of these, it has been widely observed that his health deteriorated. MJ admitted this in 1993 when he said that he was taking painkillers Valium, Xanax and Ativan to try to compensate with the stress of dealing with the child sexual abuse charges hailed against him.

Right at this time, MJ was said to have lost about ten pounds and has stopped eating regularly. He would then be observed to be drowsy and lacked concentration. This then triggered speculations that MJ was suffering from anorexia nervosa.

In fact, in 1995 Michael Jackson was rushed to the hospital after collapsing during rehearsals for a televised performance which was subsequently cancelled. This is why during the onset of the news that MJ was now dead, several showbiz gossip columnists such as Perez Hilton dismissed it as a publicity stunt - because it had a precedent.

But as it turned out it was no joke or PR campaign. It was real. The king of pop succumbed early and was gone too soon.

Michael Jackson's health problems were for real.
